Liquor Retail + Wholesale
Two businesses. One stock pool. Belgrade Liquor replaced paper and memory with Rocket Inventory—giving its team more time for customers and better control of the back room.
Results reported by Belgrade Liquor following its Rocket Inventory implementation.
“I want my people on the floor talking to customers, not hauling product out of the back to keep shelves full.”Liah, Owner, Belgrade Liquor
Belgrade Liquor runs a retail store at the front and fills wholesale case orders for bars, restaurants, and casinos out of the back. Both sides sell the same stock. A bottle might leave with a walk-in customer or go out on a case order, so the team needs to know where all of it sits.
For years, the store tracked inventory on paper and by memory. The point of sale printed pick lists in its own order, rather than the order products sat on the shelves. Pickers walked back and forth through the building, returning to locations they had already visited.
“The items were in no order that matched the building. You would pick a location, walk somewhere else, then walk right back to that same location later in the order.”
Chance, Warehouse Operations Manager, Belgrade LiquorPicking took too long. Stocking shelves took too many people. Counts drifted because nothing recorded what moved where. During the Fourth of July and the holidays, the store depended on everyone showing up and remembering.
“I had real concerns about how we were organized, enough that I wondered whether we could ever fix it.”
Liah, Owner, Belgrade LiquorThe front of the store worked fine. Belgrade needed back-room control without giving up the till, and orders had to move between the systems without anyone retyping them.
Rocket runs in a browser. There’s nothing to install on each machine, no server to buy, and no upgrades to schedule.
A U.S.-based engineering and support team meant Belgrade could reach people who could resolve issues and bring requests into upcoming releases.
“Rocket is what lets me put labor where I wanted it all along.”
Liah, Owner, Belgrade LiquorThe team gets the work done with fewer people and can put those hours back into serving customers.
“We handle it smoothly with fewer people, and we can send people home early because the work gets done faster.”Liah, Owner, Belgrade Liquor
Rocket sorts orders by product location so pickers follow the route once. The operations manager renumbered the shelves so the path runs top to bottom down each aisle.
“Going by the time cards, we get through the work back there earlier in the day than we ever have.”Chance, Warehouse Operations Manager, Belgrade Liquor
Rocket records moves as they happen, so the team doesn’t have to piece the story together later. It’s an accurate count that stays accurate.
“Rocket has brought far more accuracy to our inventory, and held it there far longer, than anything we have ever had in this building.”Chance, Warehouse Operations Manager, Belgrade Liquor
Permissions by role, better directed moves, and a smoother RMH order flow all began as requests from Belgrade Liquor.
“When I ask for something, someone picks it up quickly and it usually shows up in one of the next couple of releases.”Chance, Warehouse Operations Manager, Belgrade Liquor

Belgrade kept the till it already ran and added control of the back room: no server, no new hardware, and no new steps at the register.
Montana agency stores share the same state rules, bar and restaurant customers, holiday spikes, and thin staffing. Belgrade’s story shows how connecting the back room to the till can help a small team keep up.
